The most significant leak of UFO-related documents in many years is out, and people are beginning to talk about it. Some have even called this the most significant UFO leak ever. What is clear is that this is very important. The public conversation we will be having about these documents is only beginning, and there is no doubt in my mind that it will continue through the remainder of this year and for years to come — or until it is surpassed by something even bigger.

The Wilson–Davis notes

The leaked document is a set of notes, fifteen pages long, taken by scientist Eric Davis of a meeting with Vice Admiral Thomas R. Wilson on October 16, 2002. Wilson had served as Deputy Director of Intelligence for the Joint Chiefs of Staff (1997–1999) and as Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (1999–2002). The notes surfaced in June 2019 and were analysed at length by Richard Dolan, whose opening words are the lead paragraph above.

According to Dolan's analysis, the notes record Wilson's account of events in the spring of 1997, when, after being briefed by Lt. Commander Willard Miller, he looked into a classified UFO crash-retrieval program. Wilson contacted the private aerospace contractor running the program and, despite his government authority, was denied access. The notes record him telling the contractors that he "wanted to know about their crashed UFO program, what their role in that was, what they had, etc."
