Russellian Science: The Cubic Wave Field - Explore the reflective properties of a cube made with mirror acrylic and mirrors.
Transcript
The miracle is a cube made with five parts of 16-inch mirror acrylic. Inside the mirror cube goes this cross piece of cross acrylic mirrors. There are two parts, one bottom and one on the top. For this demonstration, we're just going to show the bottom part. We're going to mount it inside the small part. We'll be the sphere, which is a chrome two inch chrome steel wall bearing. And it will be mounted like so in the cross pieces. Putting the pieces together, we insert the cross pieces. And then we insert the sphere. Let's see what all this looks like now that it's assembled. We have one sphere in the center. But notice how we have images, reflected images all throughout the cube. Here we're shining a laser beam into the box. And you can see the many different reflections from the mirrors. When we lower the light, we get a lot better view. Here's a laser beam by itself, a single beam. We'll smoke, we can see the beam itself.
