Hi there, Marilyn. I'm wondering how can you tell us a little bit about yourself and Glyn, thanks. Well, basically Glyn is awards 50 years old in 2003 when he was diagnosed. I guess overall we were a professional couple. I run a warehouse in business Glyn to work place self and safety officer who works on major civil construction site. And overall we had a pretty healthy lifestyle until this little, this little came along. Okay, so it was a case of a soft-for-geol cancer. Where did you see the diagnosis? Well, basically Glyn had been suffering from reflux for probably the best part of three months and it was progressively getting worse. He went along to his doctor who was a bit concerned that it wasn't responding to conventional reflux treatment but described an endoscopy. And as a result of that endoscopy on 15th August 2003, it was announced that he had an esophageal carcinoma measuring two centimetres in diameter in his esophagus. What was the treatment that you undertook for that cancer? Basically we were immediately advised that he had to have chemotherapy and radiation and then to have what they call an esophagectomy, which is a removal of the esophagus, which is barbaric to say the least. But we being stunned and being sort of in a state of shock went along and did as we were told initially. And that involved five days of what they called a priest and called a priest's surgery dose of chemotherapy which apparently is half strength. And coupled with 15 days of radiation therapy, the idea was explained to us was that in no way they thought would in any way cure the cancer but it would simply contain the margins if you like and try and give the surgeons that best hope of getting it out cleanly when the surgery went ahead. But the surgery was actually booked for about six weeks later so that his body could have recovered from the assault of the chemo and the radiation. And it was during that time that we did a lot of research and decided that the epithelol of which were 50, 50 then, would survive three years even with the surgery were just not on for the sort of barbaric surgery that they wanted to do, which in case people don't know, the removal of their esophagus means that the stomach is attached to them all of its attachments and it's stretched like a long fin tube and they endeavor to attach it to the bottom of the throat. The major problem being that the stomach tissue is not designed to match up with the throat tissue and getting that joint to reach sea is often a major major drama. And in fact we've been in touch with several people who have been in hospital months later without that being able to be done. So we were very keen to avoid that and our research led us to believe that through a combination of an attitude or mindset and diet that we could in fact be just switching things without the surgery and that's exactly what we did. The interesting thing is that at the time that we were going through this we were quite convinced that the diet was the key to recovery. And research showed that there had been a lot of investigations that led to the inclusion of a little more environment called B-17 into the diet. And it's one of those things that's very much missing in the Western diet and it seems to be a key to the body's ability to actually, the body's immune ability to fight the cancer cells. So in terms of our diets we went very heavily on a lot of foods that we wouldn't normally eat that do contain B-17. And I think the cornerstone to that is probably flaxseed or which we still take on a daily basis. But the other things that we did were we went into reducing with wheat grass and the reason we took that on board is because it has a very strongly alkalizing effect on the body and it's scientific except that now the cancer needs an acid environment in which to thrive. So by alkalizing the system one gives the body the chance of overcoming the cancer. The other thing we did too was to make sure that we had raw foods on a daily basis and by that it's as simple as having a good serving of salad. But the reasoning for that is that raw foods actually have live enzymes in them again which really assists the body in dealing with any sort of situation but particularly cancer. And the other thing that we did diet and environment wise was to absolutely minimize the pollutants. So there was no spraying of air fresheners or any sort of chemicals around behind in terms of use of things on our body. A lot of people don't realise you're going to the shower, you warm yourself up and open all the pores of your body with warm water and then you bait yourself in basic e-petro chemicals if you're using standard shampoos and soaps etc. So we went out of our way to make sure that we were using natural soaps and shampoos. And internally we absolutely minimized any chemicals, where we called, we went to great lengths to search out organic foods, meats and vegetables etc. And also just to make sure that we weren't eating junk food or deep fried food, it could be cast and a genic etc. But I guess the main thing that we now realise is the importance of the mindset in the whole process. And it's been very interesting because as I explained to you earlier, Don, after having got through this without the surgery, we actually wrote a book which we've published on the internet. And as a result of that, we've had a lot of people who have contacted us either by email or by phone. And we've been only too happy to share our experience with them. And the feedback that we've been getting from all of them is that there's a definite trend where people have the mindset of treating the cancer, virtually like a common cold. And that's not in any way to trivialise it. But viewing it simply as just another infection or just another situation where the body's out of balance and needs to be given the chance to cure itself. And if people very strongly had that belief that their body could cure it and that backspat up with nutritional support, then the odds of surviving with all without surgery were very much greater. Whereas people who went very, very heavily into diet and sometimes can very extreme diets, not just hours, but other things, getting very heavily into things like apricot, corn, or some latry, which is a liquid vitamin B-17. If they didn't have that mindset that their body could in fact beat the cancer, then their outcomes were very much less.
