TRIGGER POINT THERAPY STOPPING PAIN MAY SAVE YOUR LIFE TRIGGER POINT THERAPY STOPPING May SAVE PAIN YOUR LIFE Muscle knots, or trigger points, can initiate or play a key role in serious and systemic illnesses, including heart and lung conditions, and can be integral to inflammatory diseases. Fortunately, they can be released via injection or by using manual techniques. he human body contains many mysterious and fascinating clues for fixing it when things go awry and illness occurs. The body and all its cells can be likened to a matrix of nodes or points that interact with each other. Deciphering what the body may be trying to tell us may not only stop the often-horrendous signal that we call pain, but may save our lives as well. The body's energy flows include the blood, the lymph, the nervous system, the meridians and possibly others, and these are interrelated. For example, some have speculated that the acupuncture channels are part of the lymph system. Related to this is that the body has hundreds of special points that interact with the above flows and/or with our internal organs. Some of these points can also be understood to act as fuses that need to be reset, else the related energy flow will be suboptimal and serious illness can simultaneously Muscle knots, or trigger points, can initiate or play a key role in serious and systemic illnesses, including heart and lung conditions, and can be integral to inflammatory diseases. My previous articles have cited other point systems on the body, known as Chapman neurolymphatics and Bennett neurovasculars (see NEXUS 18/06, 19/02). When specific neurolymphatic points throughout the body are rubbed hard, they can cause an increase in lymph flow—from related parts o the lymph system—into their associated organs. Likewise the neurovascular points, when held lightly, can increase capillary blood flow into their associated organs. Another beneficial and simple system of points is foo! reflexology. It is not yet known whether the nervous system, the meridian system or something else is the channel for the energy flow in reflexology. It is not necessary to know this for it to be a valid scientific phenomenon, only tha it is reproducible. Now, the body has the capacity to create a matrix of what are called trigger points. (A trigger point is abbreviated as "TrP".) This set of points or potentia points can interact with themselves and with our visceral organs. Presumably their initial energy flow is the nervous system, with a possible subsequent effect on blood flow, but they may also act through, or interact with, lymph and meridian energy flow. These points often signal their existence via pain, bu this is not always the case. They can also cause numbness and swelling, or they can be acting silently. They can initiate serious and systemic illnesses because they can reflex back to our most crucial organs, including our hearts and lungs. Trigger points can be an integral part of some chronic and/or environmenta illnesses. I was probably the first to propose this regarding porphyria. The role of TrPs in fibromyalgia, myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) and arthritic diseases is likely, and I presume has already been hypothesised. Here I expound on the role of TrPs in asthma, heart attacks, hypertension, angina, gastric complaints and other symptoms. Ascertaining and correcting these points may be an essential part of overcoming those life-threatening conditions. by Steven Rochlitz, PhD © 2012 Post Office Box 2154 Cottonwood, AZ 86326, USA Email: info@wellatlast.com Website: http://www.wellatlast.com Post Office Box 2154 Cottonwood, AZ 86326, USA Email: info@wellatlast.com Website: http://www.wellatlast.com NEXUS ¢ 25 AUGUST - SEPTEMBER 2012 www.nexusmagazine.com
