One theory is that the practice emulated advanced beings with enlarged crania who were passing on important survival knowledge to local populations around the planet. However, a sub- theory suggests that these beings were extraterrestrial, perhaps the Anunnaki from Nibiru, described in Sumerian clay tablets and shown with elongated heads in artworks.
