REVIEWS @ KEVIEWS BOOKS Reviewed by Ruth Parnell DARK INTRUSIONS by Louis Proud Anomalist Books, Texas, USA, 2009 ISBN 978-I-9336654-4-3 (278pp tpb) Available: AnomalistBooks.com Ts is a gripping book about sleep paralysis (SP), a phenomenon which affects 25-40% of people at least once, and around 1% regularly, and has no cultural barriers. Louis Proud (author of the Lightning article last edition) was an ongoing sufferer of SP from 2001 when he was seventeen. After years as a victim as well as a keen researcher of the subject, Proud realised he had to do more to rid himself of the incorporeal entities that would visit him during these SP states—entities that ranged from the harmless and the mischievous to the downright dangerous if not evil. He was not alone in his experiences, and in his book he relates stories from many sources as well as his own. It was a revelation to Proud when he discovered his soul through this SP phenomenon and realised that he could explore the spirit realm first- hand. In recent years, he has used the SP experience as a portal to paranormal realms by inducing lucid dreaming and out-of-body states. Proud reflects on cultural and historical contexts and his own experiences in the light of spiritism, channelling, shamanism, alien abductions and more. He broadens the astral landscape with reference to the work of Stan Gooch on the hypnagogic state, Dion Fortune on psychic attack, Robert Monroe on OBEs and Trevor James Constable on etheric organisms in the sky. A profound book by a young researcher wise beyond his years. techniques with other healers as well as patients. By 2000 she had formed the British Academy of Sound Therapy, the first school in the UK to offer professional training courses. Cooper takes us through exercises to aid alignment by working with sympathetic resonance and entrainment, identifying expansion and contraction, feeling the aura and chakras, and much more. Next, she explores sound as a means for self- healing and personal transmutation, via the voice as well as instruments such as singing bowls and drums. Her guidelines help us to design our own sounding sessions and open communication channels between Self and Source. The exercises expand the energy field and kindle our life-transforming potential.
