This book was probably based on The Literary Works of Leonardo da Vinci (London, 1883), by Jean Paul Richter, and on the 1881 publication as a facsimile of Leonardo's Codex. Leonardo da Vinci regained worldwide fame suddenly when he became the centre of Dan Brown's bestselling The Da Vinci Code mystery detective novel and later the film, read and watched by millions of people. In fact, the story begins when Professor Langdon uncovers an ancient parchment which historians believed to be the work of Leonardo da Vinci. The encoded parchment, bearing the name La Profezia ("The Prophecy"), raised eyebrows when scholars discovered it was signed LSPDV: Leonardo's full name was Leonardo Ser Pieri da Vinci. Although it is clear that the prophecy in The Da Vinci Code novel is not authentic, the da _ Vinci prophecies included below are the real ones: they had lain forgotten in the National Library of France for about 400 years. The prophecies presented here were translated from Italian from Solmi's book, but the 1925 edition. Da Vinci's text, written in 16th-century Italian (not modernised, and different from the Solmi edition), was checked for comparison purposes. Plants will be seen without leaves. Many people will die and there will be many holes over the earth. Men will throw away their own food. Many people will die with the head broken, and their eyes will be out of their head, because of frightening animals that will come from the darkness.
