MONSANTO'S GM CORN os” CROP FAILS IN SOUTH AFRICA Sour African farmers suffered millions of dollars in lost income when 82,000 hectares of genetically modified (GM) corn/maize produced hardly any seeds, with some farmers reporting 80 per cent crop failures. Some 280 of the 1,000 farmers who planted the three varieties of Monsanto corn in the 2008-09 growing season have reported extensive seedless corn problems. Environmental activitists have called for an urgent government investigation and an immediate ban on all GM foods, blaming the crop ailure on Monsanto's genetic manipulation technology. The managing director of Monsanto in Africa, Kobus Lindeque, denied that the problem was caused in any way by biotechnology. Austria—were part of a conspiracy to provoke an influenza pandemic. Because of laboratory protocols that are routine for vaccine makers, mixing a live-virus biological weapon with vaccine material by accident is virtually impossible. Baxter flu vaccines contaminated with H5N1 (the human form of avian flu) were received by labs in the Czech Republic, Germany and Slovenia. Initially, Baxter refused to reveal how the vaccines were contaminated with H5N1, invoking "trade secrets". After increased pressure, the company then claimed that pure H5NI batches were sent by accident. But in the Czech Republic, reporters are investigating whether the contamination was part of a deliberate attempt to start a pandemic, so that Baxter could benefit from sales of its vaccines. The fact that Baxter mixed the deadly H5NI1 virus with a mix of H3N2 seasonal flu viruses may be e smoking gun. The H5NI virus on its own has killed hundreds of people, but it is less airborne.
