Editorial ell, 2008 is all but over, and so is my workload for the year. The NEXUS Conference, held in early October on the Sunshine Coast in southeast Queensland, was our biggest one yet, with over 500 people happily networking and digesting new information. For those unable to attend this year's conference, DVDs of each presentation are now available from our website. NEXUS also played host to Bill Homann and the Mitchell-Hedges crystal skull in what was to be a six-week tour of the east coast of Australia, beginning at the NEXUS Conference. Unfortunately, due to a serious family issue, Bill had to return to the USA with the skull only a couple of weeks into his tour, so we had to cancel lots of talks, travel and accommodation arrangements and many group and personal appointments. We are planning to get Bill and the skull back to Australia by mid-2009. In early November NEXUS Magazine had a booth at the Sydney Mind Body Spirit Festival, which was very well attended this year. One of the big attractions at the festival is the section put aside for psychic readings. There is a huge surge of interest in psychic matters, due in part to the popular reality TV show called The One, but I'm sure that the uncertainty of the global economy is also causing many people to wonder what their future holds. I am also receiving lots of emails and questions about what I think of Barack Obama and his US presidential election victory—so, clearly, people are wondering what is in store. Personally speaking, I was most happy to see the people of America motivated to vote for what they perceive as a change away from what they have been experiencing, i.e., wars, the dire state of the economy, loss of civil liberties and seeing George W. Bush repeatedly make a complete fool of himself on the international stage. But will Obama deliver on the expectations of the people who voted for him? Looking at many of the people behind Obama makes me think that nothing will really change. Obama will not challenge the privately owned Federal Reserve on currency issuance (as did JFK); he will not open the UFO debate and force disclosure on the advanced technology hidden away; he will not rein in the push by multinationals to control food and medicines. In fact, as I write this editorial, I'm wondering if his inauguration, scheduled for 20 January, will even take place at all. One thing is for sure, though: we can expect much more turbulence in the financial sector during 2009. We have an excellent overview article on the topic in this edition, which I urge you to read. Also on the subject of things likely to happen in our future, I'd like to draw your attention to research by Clif High and his team at Half Past Human. They operate on the concept that every human being is psychic and that we "leak" or "telegraph" our psychic impressions across time. They have come up with a remarkable technique that analyses our language and communication patterns over the Internet, enough to make "predictions" of "events" in the future. Their track record is good enough that their work warrants further investigation. One of my favourite articles in this edition is the extended-length Twilight Zone extract about the many reports and sightings of what we would call Tyrannosaurus rex (up to nine metres tall) across the Gulf country in Australia's remote north. I was amazed to learn just how many sightings there have been, and how consistent the descriptions are with each other. Gotta love a mystery! Best wishes for 2009 and beyond!
