An unknown number of these attempts are successful. Even more intriguing are the reports scattered across the Internet claiming that one group of cyber-terrorists is comprised of disgruntled employees from within the intelligence community. It is claimed that various US senators, congressmen, military figures, public service officials and other high-profile individuals have been targeted with threats of revealing sensitive ‘personal’ information about them. It is claimed that the targets of this par- ticular group of cyber-terrorists are public officials who are or have been involved in major corruption, i.e., drug-money launder- ing, bribery, etc. What is also interesting, though, is the number of senior figures in US military and political circles who have suddenly "retired", "resigned" or "disappeared" over the last few months.
