This is a gentle-sounding mood piece for Piano, guitar and cello, arranged and per- formed by David Pickvance, with cello and guitar accompaniment by Trent Arkley-Smith. Tempest evokes the moods created before, during and after an approaching storm. It cre- ates an atmosphere of a pleasant journey which changes and grows more exciting as the storm approaches. The orchestral sounds of Tempest capture a feeling of the power and beauty of the country- side, and weave their way through the listener's senses with a subtlety and an inner strength. With this moving work, David Pickvance, a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, is surely among Australia's finest new composers.
