EDITORIAL NEXUS New Times Volume 2, Number 7 | April - May 1992 | Editor & Advertising Mgr : Duncan M. Roads ASSISTANT EDITOR Catherine Simons SUBSCRIPTIONS At last the magazine is finished, and boy what an episode this issue was. First, | want you all to appreciate that this issue is actually out on time for a change! This is despite the flooding and subsequent move of house and office (note new phone and fax numbers only) and associated running around. Once again | would like to thank everyone involved with this issue, from the writers to the helpers, to the advertisers and the readers. Thanks to you all, Nexus is now on sale across New Zealand (hello all you Kiwis), and we are now sending quite a lot to America too. The demand for the information in Nexus seems to get stronger each issue. peel Oke Speaking of issues, this one has a couple of great articles. Pity the photos in CONTRIBUTORS- the Subliminal Advertising article were not able to be reproduced in colour, prepreins because you would be able to discern the relevant images more clearly. Prof, R.S. Laura Apart from the move and the floods, we have had a few visitors of late (not John Ashton that | associate visitors with disasters). Among these was a friend of mine, econ ernie recently re-elected to the ACT Legislative Assembly (much to the annoyance of the major political parties). He also stands up for the truth, and as a result is often targeted for slander and Duncan Roads Catherine Simons " STATEMENT OF PURPOSE ! DSE | "character assassination". Despite all the attacks he maintains a charmingly : Disha ee 'S | positive mental attitude, and basically operates on the premise that politicians : ardor ditt thisinmind, | are elected by the people, to represent the WILL of the people. You can Nexus seeks to provide hard to get | appreciate his colleagues in Parliament do not appreciate being reminded that information so as to assist people | they are supposed to serve the people, not the other way around as it has through these Chiahiges become. In fact his 'colleagues' are REALLY annoyed that he was re-elected, so Nexus is not linked to any religious, philosophical or political watch for some more flak. organisation. The reason | bring this up in the editorial, is not just to give a free plug and LAYOUT+ DESIGN congratulate Dennis Stevenson, but to point out the relationship between taking Duncan Roads responsibility for our lives on a personal level and on a national level. CARTOONS What | am saying is that we the people, do not take responsibility for who we Phil Somerville vote in. We should vote in candidates who desire to represent the will of the COVER GRAPHIC people in each electorate, and if they do not do what we ask, get rid of them. Steve Satushek But more often than not we are only too happy to whinge about the mess the The Image Bank government has gotten us into. Correct, it is a mess, but we voted in the mugs COVER SEPARATIONS | who let it get messed up didn't we. | wonder how much worse things will get JAS. GRAPHICS before we, the people, decide enough is enough! NOOSAVILLE.
