This tape, apart from having very pleas- ant music and sounds to listen to, actually performs "sound therapy" while you are lis- tening. Shamanic Dream utilises Theta Sounds, which have a frequency range of 4 to 7 Hz. Research has shown that, after being exposed to Theta Sounds for a while, the body enters an extremely relaxed state. The tape initially uses soft Indian drums and percussion, which give a soft heartbeat rhythm. This is accompanied by a hollow sounding wind instrument, which gives the effect of echoing in the hills. Side two uses various soft instruments, including the synthesiser and soft humming voices. In all honesty I can say I have listened to scores of different relaxation or new age music tapes, but this one actually made me feel relaxed in a more pronounced way. It was not until I started reviewing the tape that I noticed it had specificly designed frequencies included for such purposes. If you want a proven relaxation tape, I can personally recommend it.
