The whole ordeal began on October 4, 1985. On that evening, Strieber and his wife had invited friends over to stay in their cabin. Sometime in the middle of the night, everybody woke up to find the cabin flooded with an intense, white light. They also heard strange noises, as if there were other people in the house. Nobody, however, could explain these strange events, and so they were largely ignored. Then, on December 25, 1985, Strieber woke up to find a strange creature entering his bedroom. It was about four feet tall, dressed in a strange uniform and helmet, and carrying a strange wand in its hand. Strieber just had time to sit up when the figure rushed into his bed- room and zapped him on the forehead with the wand. The next thing he remembered, several gray-type E.T:s rushed into the room, picked him up, and floated him out of his cabin and into his backyard. Next, he was sucked up into a UFO.
