71CHAPTER 12 Science without consciousness is the ruin of the soul AT FIRST SIGHT this expression appeals to the morals, or rather to the ethics. We immediately picture the atomicbomb as the product of a science that some have developed against ourcommon interests, against humanity. This one-liner also reflects anaspect of bioethics. Human cloning seems a science without conscious-ness, ignoring the place reserved for the soul. However, the dilemmaof ethics is common to all basic moral contradictions. In fact, this truism is so much more. It is a key! It is the key to under- standing what the universe is made of. I do not know if the greatthinker Rabelais had the following vision in mind when he expressedthis fundamental truth, but we can conclude only that his saying isspot on. Consciousness is science — i.e., knowledge — that goes with. With what? With consciousness! Whatever the profundity of the view it per-tains to, it is an auto-similarity of itself. This view could be called “frac-tal consciousness.” In other words, science is about consciousness! I am not talking about good and evil, but about every aspect of con- sciousness: perceptions, desires, intentions and ethics, of which thehighest level is called love, or, to use a more scientific expression, unityconsciousness. Therefore, science is the knowledge of consciousness.Modern science studies all modalities that lead to the understanding ofconsciousness, but without going directly to the goal that it shouldhave set for itself from the very beginning. The fact that this saying isstill applicable today actually shows the shortcomings of science. Paranormal phenomena, such as UFOs, are an excellent pretext as well as a stimulus for a global reinterpretation of the scientific truth.
