manage to produce effects (Casimir, Compton, Hall, etc.) that do not exist naturally. Even your microwave oven produces waves that do not appear in nature’s catalogue. Science does not describe reality, but redi- rects it and discovers what drives the universal mind. It is sometimes said that entropy is a measure of the disorder of the system. This imagery, which tries to use the evocative power of the word “disorder” to give us an intuitive understanding of the notion of entropy, is dangerous, for the word is too ambiguous and often causes grave errors. We should not try to give it any other meaning than this “lack of information” about the microscopic state implied by the Boltz- mann’ equation. Actually, the fluctuations of time and space quanta are too fast from our perspective beyond this limit. In fact, they are not fast, but fractally distant from our density. This digression seemed important to appreciate the great importance of an article’ written by Jacob Bekenstein'® about the holographic universe. Remember that a hologram is an object representing three-dimensional information, whereas it only has two. ‘All the information describing the three- dimensional scene is encoded into the pattern of light and dark areas on the two-dimensional piece of film. A three-dimensional holographic scene cannot contain more details than the roll of film of the hologram in which it is engraved,” Bekenstein reminds us. In addition, when we break a hologram, every piece holds the information of the whole. This means that a holographic universe implies the existence of larger amounts of information than those we can access, because we do not 298 The Science of Extraterrestrials: UFOs Explained at Last * Eric Julien see the whole of which the scene is a part.
