229CHAPTER 39 Constraint and freedom: from separation to oneness AREMARKABLE THING ABOUT THIS three- dimensional vision of time is that an increased time density gives usmore freedom, whereas universal information converges in complexsystems. However, the presence of space between time quanta meansthat the law of cause-effect prevails because temporal leaps are larger.Inversion becomes impossible. Objects become tangible. As you cansee, we are faced with a surprising, progressive duality that was how-ever, well-known in ancient mysticism: constraint/separation versusfreedom/oneness. Contemporary science is founded on causality and therefore on the reproducibility of phenomena. This is true for the physical world ofclassical mechanics, but the degrees of freedom in quantum mechanicsare much larger. The “evidence” is thus based on physical laws allow-ing for the reproducibility that we have already characterized as one ofthe terms of the scientific paradox. In addition, establishing proofrequires the validation of measuring instruments manufactured inaccordance with confirmed laws instead of potentially new physicallaws. It so happens that these measuring instruments are part of themacroscopic world of man and of its causal consequences. It is avicious circle. To establish the reality of a phenomenon, we use instru-ments that can only refute it when it is governed by unknown laws, orrather when it is acausal from our physical point of view. However, sci-entists acknowledge the vulnerability of proof as it is historicallyuntrue to argue that it can be absolute. The person refuting the facts isactually responsible for delivering the proof. The law of large numbers,e.g., when it comes to paranormal phenomena, provides very strongevidence. This is not a matter of belief, but of fact and therefore of logic.
