positron, i.e., an anti-electron. All antimatter therefore seems to be a sign of a causality that goes against ours. As a consequence, we need antimatter to explain the causality of the physical world. Please under- stand that the prefix “anti” justifies the use of causality — as we have seen in the discussion about CPT symmetry — which justifies the use of our equations. Antimatter eliminates “the activity of the vacuum” that this book attributes to the mind. Are we sure that such radical causality exists? We could see antimatter as simply being the absence of causality of the physical world instead of causal symmetry manifest- ing itself in inverted causality. In the standard model, they need each other to exist. Therefore, antimatter would not be worthy of its name. It is strange but Feynman retracted his own statements on the matter. He initially thought that antimatter had a temporal flow that was the opposite of ours. Remember that antimatter cannot exist in our physical world for long. Our best attempt produced only fifty thousand atoms of antimatter during a few microseconds in an extremely strong magnetic field (keeping matter and antimatter apart). As a reminder, and to give you an idea of the minute quantities of antimatter stored, one cubic mil- limeter of matter possesses several hundreds of billions of atoms.
