other two, began when I found myself in a crowded place somewhere with the familiar sensation that those around me were unaware of my presence. It looked like one of those vibrant transport terminals for trains or buses where people rushed in all directions to get tickets and information with queues everywhere. This place looked unreal with a strange and exaggerated sophistication about it, a place that we wouldn’t normally come across with machines everywhere that were not used in our world. They seemed to be devices that I could only interpret as projectors that emitted three- dimensional images anywhere they wanted so convincingly that I could hardly tell real from image. All of the images were of people demonstrating or explaining something. The machines themselves resembled those sophisticated biological devices I mentioned in an earlier chapter, the ones that upon appearance only resemble something odd organically grown but once activated appear to do things that our most upgraded computers cannot. They were machines that resembled pods and at the same time didn’t quite look like either. All [remember seeing was that these devices were everywhere in the terminal each giving advice to people who requested it. Iremember paying too much attention to these “projectors” and their images to really take notice of the people around me, but I did notice they were dressed differently to our usual commuters. Instead of the sober business suits normally worn, they were dressed in those gowns again only they weren’t Asian or even like the “blue” people I saw from that garden. Even the gowns they wore were not totally familiar as they only reflected Asian wear and some of the clothing looked outright futuristic. Just like the machinery, there were telltale signs of where they might have originated but then there were features that notably clashed. For instance, why would so many seemingly white Westerners dress like Buddhists or Hindus and if they did, why add strange futuristic headpieces or bangles that might come from a fictional space colony? Just like the other occasions, I never really got to grips with why I was actually there, but impressions were strong. The significance of me witnessing these machines wasn’t just to show me 3D projections, it was to do with an individual’s ability to manifest in an apparitional way. This signified omnipotence I spoke of earlier seemed to be a major theme in my education. Apparently the people of tomorrow could transmit by manifesting just like a message does when sent electronically. The lesson I learned was multi-awareness; I could perceive the scene without physically being there and witnessed others who could appear through these machines. For the first time, this might have been a test as well as a lesson. The pathos being, the 135
