night scene of a modern city into which I believe the craft was about to descend. As I experienced this preparation for landing I was greeted with fantastic glimpses of all angles of the city as this “glass bubble” lowered down into a street between rows of skyscraper-like buildings, a view as good as seeing the world from a cable pulley. The glimpses were brief but unforgettable. I gathered that everything I saw was ultra commercial and cosmopolitan; I say ultra because I couldn’t recognise anything. That was until I saw the most familiar and commercial logo ever above one of the street levelled buildings, the famous letter “M” in yellow on a homely red background, the welcoming logo of McDonalds. I feel myself wince once more as I describe that and honestly wish it was something less familiar but there it was, the instantly recognisable insignia of the world’s most successful fast food chain. What was totally different when the “bubble” lowered into street level was that I saw the entire boulevard taken up with the McDonalds business. Everything on that side of the street was paraded with their shop front imagery but I got the impression that it wasn’t just one long restaurant. Intriguingly I was looking at what seemed to be a whole street of a multi-faceted business that could have been restaurants, hotels, stores, banks, you name it all ran by the McDonalds chain. If this was a scene from the future then I have learned something about the business of tomorrow. Rather than just sticking to fast food, a global business like this had perhaps branched out onto other services all under the same name? This is a fascinating thought considering that big business is always looking to expand and maybe on a company blueprint somewhere this concept is being planned. This scene was brief, maybe because | interrupted it. Even though I had been deliberately induced into this scenario I remained physically being back in the rocky terrain. It was like being in one of those lucid dreams having knowledge of where you actually are and being able to purposely drift in and out. I knew it was that “dual-vision” experience again where I could observe more than one scene. Just after I had taken in the wonder around me of that strange city I had somehow snatched myself back with the being. When I think back to this ability I realise that it’s like working between applications on a computer. While on the Internet you could have a number of web pages loading and easily be able to switch between them using alt + tab keys, just as I switched between these realities. It was disappointing when this happened because there were things about the city that I wanted to know: where was it and when was it? If it had been a city so many years into the future where McDonalds monopolised the entire street then why show me? 132
