Theorists were saying that it could have been a deformed ape or even the result of a freakish crossbreed but what interested the media most wasn’t so much validity of the story but the way it touched upon the subject of evolution and what scientists are always looking to do to speed it up. In other words, could this be an evolvement of apes or what can possibly be achieved through science--an inevitable “man-monkey?” Let’s not forget that one of the most controversial photographs taken of an alleged alien being was known as the “monkey man” in Mexico back in 1949. Flying discs were spotted over Monument Valley that appeared to be discharging small cylinders over Mexico City, one of them containing the live, three foot tall being in question. The black and white photo showed the small creature, oddly dressed in European clothing, being led away by two men presumably the authorities. For years this snapshot was unanimously branded a hoax, which it could well have been but the fact that this creature was likened to a monkey still interests me a great deal. Ihave always had a thing about humanised and intelligent apes, believing I had seen them somewhere either from my blurred past of from a deeper realm of forgotten dreams. I seem to remember apes that talked quite articulately, walking around on two legs and, more intriguingly, I was not being surprised by their presence as though I was used to seeing them. I tend to think of these memories as being from my actual past rather than a “Quantum Leap”-type slip into another person because when I think of my presence in these memories, I am often looking “up” at the beasts the way a small child would. Perhaps they were no taller than the average human and they didn’t seem to pay much attention to my presence yet they would occasionally refer to me affectionately the way a passing adult might to a child. That tells me a great deal about the ages at which these memories might have taken place. When I read this article about the unusual creatures sighted in Delhi, the written words ““monkey-man” or “man-beast” seemed to ring a particularly loud bell, conjuring up many memories about the ape people. Those were the words used in the scenarios I remember, “Try to avoid the “man-beasts’, they’re quite harmless but best left alone.” “The monkey-man is there, waiting to develop, please allow them to.” I found this fascinating as I must have remembered them existing as a type of intelligent livestock. I vaguely recall overhearing these comments or perhaps being personally briefed on what they were. I never consciously remembered them this way as I only dismissed that memory as another disjointed dream but now I really felt there was a story behind the man-beast. I often felt a chill once I recapped 120
