Adam had not yet learned that a mysterious force we call destiny had long ago, from the birth of time itself, sown a thread of preordainment, invisible to the physical eye but visible and sensible to the intuition of basically good beings. He did not at the moment know that the love of man for woman could attain the divine heights of man’s love for God, that the one was merely one half loving the other half.
