If there is a hidden cipher of mediumship showing up in the somewhat comic and sometimes tragic lore of contacteeism and trance channeling in modern times, what does it mean? The clue, I think, lies in the handful of common denominators in all the mythology that has emerged in the nearly 150 years since the Fox sisters heard rapping sounds in the walls, and the ship of spiritualism was launched.
