They were made primarily of nickel (99 percent) with traces of magnesium, iron, titanium, cobalt, silicium, and aluminum. Henri Dagousset was never found. Antonio Pardo was never found. There is no Antoine Nancey in Madrid. The capsules were made of commonly-available metals, and the strip of plastic, although a fairly esoteric material, could have been purchased from commercial compa- nies in the United States. Was the perfect case a hoax? It was certainly a tantalizing and intriguing puzzle, a maze of seem- ingly tangible paths that led the analyst from one exciting glimpse of potential discovery to disappointment and despair. The final answer was always one step removed, hence my choice of the code words Strip Tease on the bulging folders that contain all the documents I have accumulated about this case.
