Jesus replies to the devil that he has not been placed on Earth for the useless exercise of testing his creators, thus proving that he does not ask roa ad for their help at every moment. Then Satan leads Jesus to the top of a high mountain and proposes to make him a great and very rich king on the Earth. Again, the devil taketh him unto an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; and he said unto him, ‘All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.’ Then saith Jesus unto him, ‘Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.’ Then the devil leaveth him; and behold, angels came and ministered unto him.” aril Lowy Jesus shows his loyalty to the Elohim whom he prefers to serve rather than become a powerful and rich man. It must be noted in these verses that Jesus refers to the slanderer by his name, since he calls him Satan. Since the test was successful, the “angels”, the Elohim’s messengers, came down to Jesus to complete the initiation. Jesus was not the only one to be tested by “the devil”; Job was also tested by Satan. The beginning of The Book of Job is quite eloquent, as it shows clearly what good relations, or even fraternal relations there were between Yahweh and Satan: Now there was a day when the sons of Elohim came to present themselves before Yahweh, and Satan came also among them. And Yahweh said unto Satan, ‘Whence comest thou?’ Then Satan answered Yahweh, and said, ‘From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
