1906 In Germany, followers of Haeckel form the influential Monist League, pressing for a government patterned along Darwinian lines. 1907 England passes the Vaccination Act of 1907, after the newly elected government comes to power. The act allowed a statutory objection from a parent relative to a child vaccination before the child was four months old. 1907 Indiana passes the world's first compulsory sterilization law for “all confirmed criminals, idiots, rapists and imbeciles” who were confined in state institutions.
