skinned aliens who methodically perform head-to-toe examinations with special attention to the genital area. In hundreds of cases, women report being probed with long metallic devices in the abdominal or genitalia area. Through telepathic communication, female abductees are told that the procedure is being performed to retrieve ovum for the purpose of reproduction. Many female abductees claim that after an abduction they find incisions or scars on their lower 14 wos wot c teo4 abdomen that were not present prior to the encounter, An anesthetic of some kind is generally employed, and the details of the exam are usually recalled under hypnotic regression. In addition to a "routine" physical exam, male abductees often report procedures for the retrieval of sperm. This procedure is generally painless but is quite humiliating to most of a4 the abductees. In many cases abductees, both male and female, report the removal of tissue samples with resultant scoop marks on the extremities or torso of the individual. Insertion of "alien implants" within the body of the abductees is frequently alleged. Abductees report the use of long metal probes used to insert ceramic or metallic implants deep and high up in the nasal passageways. Others report implantations in the torso, the extremities, and the skull cavity. According to researchers, an implant will typically be between one to three millimeters in size. However, detailed analyses of alleged alien implants, which have been surgically removed, have failed to prove an alien origin of the materials found within the implants. According to some researchers, the retrieval of sperm and ova and the execution of "reproductive procedures," seem to be central to the abduction phenomenon. Abductees who have allegedly experienced such retrievals report being told that their "seed" would be used for the production of hybrid off-spring. David Jacobs and others even claim confirmation (hormonal and ultrasonographic) of pregnancies in female abductees and the subsequent disappearance of fetuses.'*) Of course accounts such as these are impossible to confirm. The social stigma attached to such events compels most alleged abductees to maintain anonymity. Consequently, the only evidence for such events are the anecdotal stories themselves. In addition, there are numerous medical explanations for false pregnancy, false pregnancy tests, and the "mysterious" disappearance of fetuses. These include psychosomatic pregnancy where the woman feels pregnant but in subsequent testing fails to reveal a pregnancy. Spontaneous "absorption" of a deceased fetus in the first few weeks of pregnancy and "molar pregnancy" are but a few of the aa 1 A recurring theme in the abduction scenario is the delivery of detailed messages to abductees. The messages delivered to abductees are typically done by telepathic (mind- to-mind) conversation. Abductees rarely report the use of verbal communication with their captors. In some cases, abductees report being shown scenes or messages on large screens within the alien craft.'”* 66 possible explanations.
