"There are too many independent eyewitness reports to ignore, too many of the reports describe coherent physical effects, and there is an agreement among the accounts concerning what was observed. If all of the witnesses are lying, then it is a mental disease of such novelty and proportions that it must be studied." During almost two decades of research, Project Bluebook examined more than 700 cases of UFOs that could not be explained. Among them were a number of UFO cases during which the "craft" exhibited the kind of superphysics we have just examined. The following is a partial list of the unexplained encounters: *October 15, 1950, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, 3:20 P.M. Atomic Energy Commission troopers Rymer, J. Moneymaker, and Capt. Zarzecki observed two shiny silver objects shaped like a bullet or bladder. After observing them for several minutes, the objects dove with a smoke trail and one of the craft vanished before their eyes. The other hovered at five to six feet above ground, about 50 feet away, turned left, and returned several times during the encounter. *February 27, 1953, Shreveport, Louisiana, 11:58 A.M. A United States Air Force airman/private pilot (name withheld by Bluebook) observed five yellow disks making circular turns in the sky. Under observance, three of the objects dematerialized and vanished, the other two flew erratically making right-angle turns for a total of 4 minutes, ai. £1 then flew away. *November 26, 1957, Robins AFB, Georgia, 10:07 AM. Three control tower operators at Robins Air Force Base, one weather observer, and four other military personnel observed a single silvery metallic cigar-shaped object hovering near the base. After observing the object for eight about minutes, it suddenly dematerialized and vanished from sight. eJune 27, 1952, Topeka, Kansas, 6:50 P.M. On this evening a United States Air Force pilot Second Lt. K. P Kelly and his wife saw a single spherical, pulsating red object floating stationary. Then it changed shape from spherical to a vertical oval. The sighting lasted for about five minutes. Sightings of metallic flying craft that dematerialize, change shape, and perform aerial feats impossible for a physical craft are abundant in the chronicles of civilian researchers as well. One of the largest collections of such encounters belongs to Jacques Vallee. Vallee is one of the few researchers who has had uncensored access to the files of Project Bluebook and is frequently sought to investigate unusual UFO encounters. In addition, in the 1960s and 1970s Vallee worked closely with the late Dr. J. Allen Hynek and had open ts During over four decades of UFO research he has personally interviewed thousands of eyewitnesses.”* Because of their long history of unparalleled access to UFO and alleged abductee material, Hynek and Vallee are considered by many to be the "fathers" of the 46 FROM THE FILES OF BLUEBOOK THE CHRONICLES OF VALLEE access to his voluminous database.
