The Earth changes, they claim, are nothing to be feared. They are not the wrath of God, and they will not result in the annihilation of mankind from the planet. Rather, they are something wonderful—something to be desired. They portend a time of hope and joy for the nations of Earth, ushering in the arrival of a world leader who will unify the world in peace and brotherhood with technological answers to solve our problems. In the spring 1994 issue of Connecting Link Magazine, New Age author Kay Wheeler discussed the current Earth changes and their significance. According to the article, she is a "Pleiadian Starseed," that is, a contactee and channeler for extraterrestrials from the star cluster of the Pleiades. In this article she gave us information from the "Souls of Light," a group of extraterrestrials from the seventh celestial plane of life regarding the current Earth changes: "There is much happening on your planet at this time. The Mother is cleansing. It is all that she knows to do at this time to clear herself of the pollution that exists within her bodies. But you as light bearers can help your Mother to cleanse in such a way that does not destroy all life on this planet... » A number of New Age authors echo this notion that "Mother Earth" is undergoing a beneficial cleansing in order to purge herself of the "pollution" that resides on her body. According to New Age channeler Barbara Marciniak, the Pleiadians teach that the Earth changes are a test, an exhilarating experience to be embraced and not feared: "... It will seem that great chaos and turmoil are forming, that nations are rising against each other in war, and that earthquakes are happening more frequently. It will seem as if everything is falling apart and cannot be put back together. ..." "Bless these changes that come to Earth. .. . You will find yourself tested. You will say, ‘Am | a victim here? Is the world collapsing around me? Or is it uplifting itself around me while everything is seemingly in the midst of collapse?" » "The times are changing, and it is not for you to panic over what is coming. It is time for you to feel the exhilaration inside your being. The time you have been waiting for, your purpose, is on the cusp of being fulfilled. ..." Despite wars, accelerating earthquakes, famines, pestilence, and "great chaos and turmoil" in general, we are to "bless these changes that come to Earth" and "feel the exhilaration inside [our] being because the time [we] have been waiting for, [our] purpose, is on the cusp of being fulfilled." supposed to embrace the deaths of tens of millions of HIV victims as something wonderful? Are we to "feel the exhilaration inside our being" when we contemplate the disintegration of society that accompanies the combined impact of pestilence, drought, economic collapse, wars, and govern-mental corruption that has annihilated sub-Saharan art oa Africa?
