Dear Sirs:
I have just read thet the Air Foree
has been issued a directive to treat U.F.0. sightings relate
seriously, so I thought I woul4/my experience, hoping
in some small way, to help uneover the mystery of the
so-called "Flying Saucers" which I am sure, do exist.
I have been flying since I923 as a private oilot.
Presenting holding license / 142649.
I was returning to Reading, Pa. from the south
New Jersey shore, at an eltitude of Sooo feet, when ore, at an altitude of S0oo feet, when
about Io miles southeast or Phile. Pa. I dedected a about Io miles southeast or Phila. Pa. I dedected a
movement out of the corner of my left eye that caused
me to turn my head sharply in that direetion.
Coming from behiud and slightly below me, on a Coming from behind and slightly below me, on a
course about I5 degrees more westerly than my own,
2 Were two ciroular objects. The one slightly to the
slde and rear of the other.
Due to the closeness end the fact it was clear
and daylight I had an excellent view. I could plainly
see they were made of a bright, shiny metal, similar
to stainless steel or polished aluminum. They were
about 40 to 50 feet across, about 6 to 8 feet in
thiokness at the center, tapering to a thin edge.
The outer 2 to 3 feet of the edge seemed to be
vaned and spinning, although not the rest of the
objeet. It wes surrounded by an orange-yellow flame
and quite a bit of smoke, which trailed at the sides

and rear. No windows were aoparent.
They did nothing uuusual, just when by in straight
level tlight towerd Chesapeake Bay, at a speed I estinated
about two to three times my own Ioo N.P.R. A short
distance oast me they seemed to increese soeed considerably
end disappeared rapicly to the west.
Hoping this report may be of some small value,
Sinoerely,
