Lakce Charles, Louisiana, were driving due north in their car.
Both sighted the object at the same time. It was elliptically shaped, and bore two very
bright, intensely whito lights The object hovered for about 3 seconds, then shot off
due East over Lake Charles Air Force Base at a tremendous apeed, calculated to be
approximately 1000 miles per hour. Mrs was driving, and after the object had disao
peared, Mrs looked back about seconds later and observed bright streak of
red red light light moving moving in the Same in the same direction, along the same the same path, and at the same speed path, and at the same speed as i as
the object first sighted. Mrs sighted. Ures Hale Hale did not observe this last. Size of this last. Size of the object was wa3
undetermined due to darkmess. No to darkmess No aerodymamic aerodynamic features, trail or exhaust, or system of exhaust, system of
propulsion were apparent. No apparent. No sound sound was heard. Altitude estimated Ito be approximately approximataly

A eheck with the Lake Charles Weather Bureau reveals that weather balloons are
released at the following hours: 09C0,2210020300 0,2and 1500.1 balloon requires an
average time of 86 mimutes to reach the zenith of its ascent (approxinately 12 miles),
where it bursts, and the radiosonde descends to earth in a parachute. The radiosonde
embodies one small electric light to facilitate potting by weather observers.
