Gentlemen:
I would like to report sighting some unusual flying objects
south of Mount Airy, N. C. on the night of March 3, 1967. These objects
my daughter were first noticed by my son, Bob age 8, and
" age l7 while watching a falling star
from the front steps of my home, at this address, which is
near the center of this towm of Sooo population, I enclose
her desoription of events as attachment # 1.
I was working at the telephone office, where I have been employed
as a central office repairman as a central office repairman for 2l vears, when T for 2l years, when I received a
telephone call from my daughter telling me of the strange objects.
I immediately came home, which took about five minutes, but
nothing was in sight. My wife and daughter told me that I was
too late, that they had disappeared over the horizon behind
a street light that had blocked their view the last few ninutes.
They had also called the neighbors that live behind us, Mr. and Mrs.
late to see anything. I received the call about 8:3 But they too were too

she and I sat on the enclosed porchb. The events that followed
ere enclosed as attachment #2 which was written by myself. We
called Mr. and Mrs and their son and they also
saw the events.

of relative brightness in the same aren, and from this test roll
find a developenent time that will veild a good picture. Since it
has been cloudy since Friday night, the test roll has not yet
been nade, and thus the delay to see if we got any pictures. At this
time I don't think so, because they looked mighty small in the view- finder.

above the tree line that is to the south of our house. I was surprised at
how large they lobked because from her previous deseription I would have
expected something the size of a star. But these were many times this size.
The color was a reddish orange, like the color of the noon when it is
rising. The rotion was steady, and slow. I was facing south and they
were noving to my left.
We went out in the yard to get a better look. called our neighbor
and he got his binoculars and came out. He got the best look when they
were the colsest apparently. I went back in the house to set the exposure
on the carara I had picked up on the way out, since it was too dark to
adjust it outside. I took a picture then at F3.5 and l-lo sec, but the
dirtance seened too great in the viewfinder. I thought that they may

From my relative position they appeared over the Jones'
house looking east and I again kept the binoculars on thom. I could then
see two distinct white li ghts on each of them. It lcoked like the two
headlights of an automobile. I took a picture. Then I could see more than
two lights. It seemed like four or five on each one. These wore all in two lights. It see emed like four or five on each one. These were all in
a herizantal plane. They were traveling again to the South and in a line. a herizantal plane They were traveling again to the South and in a line,
one behind the other. The distance between them would vary slightly all the
time they were noving, but they stayed in a line in a horizantal plane.
The novement was always steady. It seemed to me that they were floating
like baloons. There Was noise of motors or jets.
At this time the first one started flashing lights. Alternately red and
white. Like the lights on an airplane wing, bu ught they were much
too close together, and I never saw any green. I could make out the point source
of the lights when they flashed. There were two separate lights almost
together. Not the twinkling of a star, but a definite flashing light. The
second one started flashing now. I tried to determine if the lights were
fixed and the vehicle was moving, or the vehicle steady and the lights flashing
on and off. I couldat be sure but it seemed the lights were on and off.
At this -oint a third one appeared in the top of my binocular field, from
the east, and at right angle to the motion of the other two, and joined
the sther two. It fell in line withe the other two. They lined up in
a striight line formation in a horizantal plane. I had been watching for as. mation in a horizantal plane. I had been watching for

she said, and were much closer before. We waited for an hour to see them again,
but they did not come back into our vision. We sreculated that they would be but they did not come back into our vision. We sreoulated that they would be
too far to the south maybe for us to see if they had come back.
