Dear Mr.
There have been several sightings similar to yours reported
to the Air Force during the past year. In most cases, we
have found the cause of these sightings to be an aircraft
towing an electrical advertising sign.
The Chicago area has a company engaged in this type of adver-
tising. We have found these aircraft advertising a furniture
sale, a Ford Motor Company sale, and a Go-Go band. It is
difficult to read the e message unless the observer is fairly close
to the aircraft. to the aircraft. These aircraft normally fly at altitudes of normally fly at altitudes of
1000-1500 feet, l000-1500 feet, therefore, therefore, I would I would estimate that if the air- estimate that if the air-
craft was a mile fram your position, then you would then you would see only see only
the sequential etric lights.
Thank you Thank you fo ation. tion.
Sincerely,
