SUBJECT: Unidentifie Sighting H April 1966

Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio 45433
The following repor accordance with AFR 200-2, dated 20 July
1962:
- Description of the Object:
Resembled a large ball with three protrusions, or arms.

Held at arm's length, the object would have been about the size
of a basketball. Viewing the object from the road, the observer estimated the
diameter at about 12 feet. diameter at about 12 feet.
(3) Main body appeared white in color, which also seemed to glow.
The protrusions, or arms, were entirely illuminated as blinking red lights.

What appeared a spotlight was activated shining in a direction
a few degrees left of Alpena graphical position. The light remained on for
illuminating a cloud bank off in the distance.

)The observer stated while watching the object it reversed its position

excitement in viewing such an object he decided to turn around and go back to
Harrisville, Michigan, to locate a telephone to call his father. For approximately
one mile the UFO followed his vehicle and then disappeared. The observer
continued on for another mile and decided he would turn around and call his
father from Alpena. approximately the same location of the original sighting
he saw the object again. time the object dropped straight down in a rapid
descent and the observer thought it would crash to the ground; however, at tree
top level it suddenly stopped and remained hovering.

This young man is the son of a well known and respected resident of Oscoda, Michigan.
He appeared most sincere, answered all I questions in a direct manner and is quite

J. At the hour observer sighted the UFO, Wurtsmith Air Force Base was
recovering a tanker and I Harrisville is within the base flight pattern. This aircraft
was launched to accomplish one refueling mission and seven landings. Final
recovery was 0650Z-. Altitude in pattern is approximately
ground.
k. Base Sergeant Major: Although the observer was sincere in his belief that
an object was seen as described, this writer feels there is another logical reason
for this sighting--that being a combination of aurora borealis (northern lights) and
swamp gas, the latter being prevalent in this area. This, coupled with an activity

father, and after looking at picture other reported sigh ghtings in Life
Magazine, I personally feel he bui his imagination the object and its
actions as reported.This same nother sighting on the
5th of April. A person, unknown, reported to th County Sheriff that he had
just seen a glowing object which hovered within some trees and the object kept
turning. The sheriff investigated and found that someone had tied a reflector
from the limb of a tree.
