On 13 May 65, Dr J Allen Hynek spoke to Mr
Street, Anaheim, California, homephone: area code work: North
American Aviation, Downey, California, phone At the time he was sitting
in an Apollo Space Craft. It was one of the strangest things he has er seen,
even while flying he never saw anything like it. Object light source.
Was not a reflection, brighter than immediate stars. Planet Mars just to West and
directly to the East a rather bright star; ot ther star determined to be Arcturus.
Object was much brighter than Arcturus, had a twinkle, went rather slowly, about
175 degrees North to South, then disappeared very y large speed.
Thought at first it was a satellite and wondering which satellite, maybe a
Russian satellite. /Had a twinkling effect, was bluish white light. Mr
would be most happy to fill out a form, he reported it only to the Air Force because
who works in a different field on this sub, ject could explain it. Traveled in a
great circle, more like Arcturus in color than Mars, but more bluish-white. Observed
for approximacely lour muutes, at about J2 approximately four mimutes, at about 3 minutes it took a sudden manuever, then 0000sa 8 uen maruevery wen
climbed up and out of sight but it took a sudden move to the East. The light got and out of sight but i took a sudden move to the East. The light got
smaler and smaller till it seemed to smaller and smaller till it seemed to to go out, thought maybe it was part of a very go out, thought maybe it was part of a very
steep rate of climb, which was rather high, perhaps it was an optical illusion. it was an optical illusion.
Object was Object was in in the sky directly overhead at the sky directly overhead at 90 degrees when 90 degrees when first seen. Went down Went.down

Covered about 60 degrees of the sky, saw no other object and it was an exceptionally
clear night, do not recall it going in front of any stars, just about a hand's clear night, do not recall it going in front of any stars, just about a hand's
width was the distance that the object crossed, ten to fifteen degrees.
suggested that it might have been a burnout, however, a burnout would
be coming in and down. Time was lol5 local. Object going slightly SE, but
almost due South. It looked like it was making its own light.
Impression of going up and away was gained only because object t faded quickly. Arc
of maneuver was smaller than irst reported. Dr Hynek says that if
entry of a N-S satellite into the earth's shadow oc ccurred at about that time, then
this was definitely a satellite observation.

Dear Sirs:
I am an electronic engineer presently employed with Jorth American Aviation
on Project Apoll I'am responsible for the
preflight checkout of a the space communications equipment. I have
been in the aerospace fielc have worked at locations such as
Holloman Air Force Base Mexico. China Lake, California, Cape Canaveral
in Florida and Edwards Air F rce Base. California various test programs such
as Terrier, Tartar, Matador, Mace, and X-15 I have seen mary missile firings and
many firings of large ballistic missiles. I have seen satielites ar d other various
phenomena relating to my field. I feel that I m ht classify myself qualified
observer of an object t I sight in flight. I have been on flight status at Holloman
Air Force Base and have flown in both Jets and Propeller driven aircraft. Air Force Base and have flown in both Jets and er driven aircraft.
Tonight, my wife and I have seen an objetc which in all
I have never seen the likes of.T etails are as folbows:
Time of sighting: 2215 local time May 7th, 0515Z May 8 (GMT)
position of object at time of sighting: O9o deg. from Horizon
or Directly overhead.
Course of object: 175 degrees (North to South)
Lenght of sighting:
fent Color of object: Very bright bluish white and seemed to be
osclllating in color (such as twinkling)
Shape of object: Seamed to be disc shaped but was so bright, it w
marginal to be certain.
Sound: None
Speed: Very slow at first for about three and one half minutes
but then accelerated at amazin speed and climber
a lwot hue up and out sight. I ascertained the direction it climk
was up du he fact that it became smallei as it accel
ated and lost brightness. Right before disappearing, it
changed its course to the southeast. It covered from O90 changed e southeast. It covered from O90
degrees to 030 degrees in to 030 degrees in the four minutes I watched it. e four minutes I watched it.

I Hope this informaticn helps you in some way and even though the object I sighted I hope this information helps you in some way and even though the object I sighted
may be an explainable cutine thing that is known. at least, I feel I have done
my duty as a citizen.
