My wife, two children (age and 12) and I were seated along the
Bay, at the foot of Turner Street.
There were approximstely 400 to 500 assembled in this
immediate area. About 20 minutes after the fireworks c disolay
had begun, we noticed many of the crowd talking and pointing out
toward the sky in the West. We saw five lights, suspended like
a string Japanese lanterns off in the West. The lights created
much attention and most everyone in our area stopped looking at
the fireworks display and watched the other lights. For at least
four or five minutes they remained stationary. There was a 6th
light but it came from an airplane that was circling the five
lights. I could make out the movement of this plane. Its lights
I am convinced that this was not a reflection of any sort the lights
were clear and distinguishable. There were too msny people sround
who witnessed the same thing for people all around were talkinr shout
the strange sight. I will be hegoy to confirm this to any person or

Dear-Sir:
After reading your request for information
regarding the red lights in the sky on the evening of
July fourth, I wish state that I watche these lights
until they went out.
I was sitting frontlawn at Belleair Beach
to watch the fireworks display at C earwater, and after
the fireworks were over I continued to sit there and noted
over the Gulf. They looked like large red balloons and were
ever so much larger than the customary port lights on an
aircraft.
They hovered in one spot, maybe fifteen minutes after
I first noticed them. The time must have been between nine

Venus-sized object was seen by 7 persons, 6 in one place. Its

Mr. King then noticed that 3 star-like objects were climbing

called out to the other 5 persons inside the shop.
The 3 objects in horizon formation proceeded toward
the zenith aad stopped short of the star Vega (70° -). According to
Mr. Plummer the "stars" took a diamond shape. He said, the star
on the W corner moved SSE and took a stationary position at
about Bo elevation. The 3 star triangular formation stayed in
position fo: 3-4 minutes. There was some disagreement on how
these objects disappeared. Aocording to some, they were suddenly
not there; others thought they could still barely see them. Soon
after, they had completely disappeared.

BLINKER OVER PARMA
July 17, 1964 . . . 9:45 P.M. . . . At the same time that the
Meckels were experiencing sighting on Whitney Rd., two
Parma residents spotted a nigh-flying, lighted white object
coming from the N.E. The object's steady flight to the S.W. took it
past the observers who saw it at an angle of 55-60 elevation and
to their left. (They were facing N.) The object, "as large as a
5
dime" blinked every two seconds; an intense bluish-whiteon a much
less intense white. (The object was constantly iluminated.)
Its general shape was round, maybe oval. The object moved
along steadlly and swiftly, disappearing high in the S.W. Duration
2-3 min. No sound, con-trails, ete., no wings, etc., no other lights.
The weather - clear. Observed by Mr. and Mrs. R. Immormino.

MRS. MECKEL GETS AN EDUCATION
On the day after the sighting Mrs. Meckel called several places.
At NASA, they told her no one there was qualified to speak to her
about her experience. The Planetary Center didn't answer. An Air
Force Agency (Mr. Sylvester) instructed her to write a fuli report
to ATIC (UFO Center) at Dayton, Ohio. (She did so.) The Sohio
Lab Satellite Tracking Center (name of person not known) ex-
plained to Mrs. Meckel that she had seen a bolide (large meteor.
especially one that explodes) about ready to explode. He went
into ionization due to friction, radiation of light, ete. She knew
better, but thanked him anyway. When she wrote her leiter to
ATiC, she pointed out the explanation given her by the spokesman
at Sohio Lab., in the face of her detailed explanation of what she
had seen. She suggested that present day books and knowledge
certainly must be wrong if bolides can stop, turn, rise, and change
speeds, etc.
