10, BRIEF SUMMARY OF SIGHTING ll. COMMENTS

Motion pulsating. Appeared from 45° altitude
to horizon. No direction given. Had general
appearance of star or planet. Occasional
flashes of bright white light. Also no state-
ment as to motion other than that it moved
faster than a/c at times and appeared to
change direction suddenly.

Request for additional information sent.
No reply. No conclusion can be drawn on
information given, except that possible
sighting of Jupiter with atmospheric
refraction caused object to fluctuate.
Jupiter also reported from several

other southern states during this time
period.

This is to aciaiowledge your undated letter to the Commander,
USAP UFO Project concerning the sighting by you of sn unidentified
flying object on 25 September.

Your letter contained insufficient information for a valid
conclusion. Therefore, we aak that you and one of the other witnesses
complete the sttached Air Force Questionnaires and forward the com-
pleted documents to the Commander, Aerospace Technical Intelligence
Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio for their analysis and

Dear Sir:

I would like to report what I genuinely believe to have been
a UFO sighting on the evening of September 28, due east of this
community between the hours of 2/00 and 6100. I am not an habitual

writer of letters of this gort, nor a “crank”. Indeed, I am an
) and am quite well aware of the
necessity of frank and e reporting of things of this nature.

Air Force Resarvist

I have three witnesses to this sighting who will corroborate my
story to the extent that they observed the UFO. I took great cars
to ascetain that what I was observing was not a conventional air-
craft (of any sort known to me), was not behaving in the manner
one would expect of a satellite, or a guided missile.

From my window, the object moved from approximately forty-five degrees
from the horizen down to approximately twenty. It had the general azxax
appearance of a star or planet except that it pulsated regularly from
white to orange, red, and green. (Its motions would tend to ruls

out Mars or any other celestial body.) At this latter position it
appeared to be hovering while occasionally bobbing up and down and
darting from side to side. Brilllant flashes of white light were occa-
3lonally seen. Occasionally it would remain perfectly ‘still or move

in a general upward direction. I got into my car and drove out on ths
highway to observe it better. According to its brightness and rela-
tive position on the horizon and in relation to my two positions of
obsarvation, it was sufficiently closs for me to have easily haard

ja@6 or rociprocal engines if they were incorporated. Its motions wers
quite too sudden in direction and high in speed to have confused it
with craft of this sort. Driving back to town I kq@ated three men,

Vr. SQRMMMMner of Wolfe City, a Mr.. .»2Rd another person
who sighted it with me and abserved iyjsymotions and color changes.
: Tne dbbject then moved steadily upwardyp

O100 hours when I began to realize that my eyes were no longer de-
nendable and I began to imagine that I saw saveral bodies which must
have been stars were moving slightly, no SOUS ie) Sees teettes of my

To make sure that I was not deluding myself about the original
object, however I recall making several checks, to wit:

1. The object exhibited a light of a lower temperature
than any observed stars, their being considerably

more blue.

2. It exhibited motion relative to fixed bodies which,
it seemed to me, negated the idea that my eyss were
playing tricks on me (until later).

3. I made a quick mental note of its relative position to
a couple of constellations which I think I could skethh

out at least roughly, thus ruling in or out stars.

ih. I have observed the color changes of Mars before. I do
not believe I could have confused the two.

In my observation of many aircraft during four years active duty
at James Connally and Lackland Air Force Bases I must definitely
assert that no aircraft can move that fast or change direction

that suddenly, in my opinion.

I have made notes ina little more detail if it would be of valus
to you.
