Bright moving object. When viewed through it is concluded that the objects of these
binoculars and a 60 power telescope there sightings were probably weather balloons.

appeared to be something rotating pendulum-iik
around the object; further there appeared to
be aprox 15 pleces of debris following in the
wake of the object. This debris would disappear
at the same time as the object. Object would
disappear when directly overhead.

July 22, 1960

Dear Sirs;

I do not know whether you are the proper
authorities to inform or not, but here goes .

On the evening of July i6th, I noticed a small
bright object in the sky. Observing it with a pair of
7 x 50 binoculars, I surmised it was another one of
those 100' diameter balloons. When it was directly
overhead, it disappeared from view. I figured the
angle would not permit the stuns rays to be transmitted
to earth also that would be the last we would see of it.

The next night out of curiosity, my brothers and
nephews lvoked up in the sky, same time and place. There
it was again. Looking at it with the binoculars and a
60 power telescope, we could see about eixht to fifteen
pieces of rocket debris floating along with it. We
Observed this balloon for four nights, last being seen
on July 20h, at $:32 i. M.

I would say it was about 80 miles in space, because
it was at least three times smaller than the one I saw
previously, which the papers said was about 450 miles out.

Usually, a bailoon shot only lasts for a day. Being
that this one lasted for four days, we thought, you would
like to know. Any other information you would like to
know, we will be glad to give you. Would also appreciate
an answer to confirm the receipt of this letter. [Thank you.
