Fe, the undersi_ned, wis:. to attest to the veracity of the following
acccunt of th= si_tin or tno unidentified flying objects at j 201.M.
on July 1, 1960.
My wife and I "ere welting with our t.o joung grandchildren in a
southerly direction toward the cottage where he hed be.n taying at Les
ott a, Some ten miles southeast of Marshall, Michigan, when our three
rear ld grandson called sur attention to the obj:cts by his question as to
what the bright lights in the sky were. We all saw tro bright reund cojects
travellirg silently in a generally Southeast diroti n, t an ingle of
s me 45 degrees elevation. The size was about that of a half the diametsr of a
dime held at arm's length.
My firstimpression was that the objects vere aircrart at such a di-cance that
their encines cruid not be heard, and illunin ted by the cun, wrich hac set,
but vhich I thought could still catch a high flying; craft. However, te they
passed us, they maintained their round aspect. There were no :ings. My
wife, vho has iar Detter disterce visien than I, claims that she coula see
a ring of lights about the middle, r und in the center, and teyering to an oval
shaje with the perspactive, indicating thet they went arxund a circle. All
I oould be certain or as the color and bri_htness, which aes of a rearly hue,
very bri_ht end :leasant in ap earance. The outline vas hazy rather than sharp.
Giameter at sume seventy five f-ot, and their hei_ht at a m le. Thus the speec
tould secm t. be tround fur huntied miles per hour. This ,esssns wus mde
without tne slightest scund, with no sleke , va,or trail, or any sther svidence
of motor Au er. The t.o crai't maint ined their spacing untl they dise_reared
into iiint clowas in the distence. But even then they appeared as bri_ht as beibr-,
until they iinaly disarreared as two tiny ,in cints of li_ht in the-listance.
At th: oase time we Sa. a conventi:nal airpl-ne in tne Orrosite direetien,

The hevior or these t o cruft falls into no known pattern of gowered
or free floating aircraft. Since four of us, tne tdults of fifty, and t.o
children of three and four, had i lentical senera.l : impressi ns, thare is no
rossibility of hallucination. Furthermore, the fact or dirst sighting veins
made by child with n no "backgrcund" is si.nificant. The fli_ilt pattern
wES deliberate and voliticnel. The speed mus be; ond that of free balloons,
especially since the evening was perfectly caln. The tbsence of noice -and
ell of us have encegtionally keen hearing- tekes the objects out of a lowered
class. The roundness and absance of wings and the brightness , even wien
shinins through clouds , are beyond my etjyerience. I shall not ettampt a hy-
pothesis as to the ne ture of the craft, save that they seem to fali inco a.
rattern of similarity to cbjects called "flyin_ stucars". I am a Detroit
