Examination and Results:
The submitted sanples (with the exception of
the tree laeves and bark) were subjected to x-ray
spectrographie study.
The raterial, much of which adhered to the
insido of the container envelooes, was brushed out on
to Small plastic holders which were then incerted in
the X-ray spectrograph. Strip charts were taken
covering the range 71 to 10 degrees ? Theta. A tungsten
x-ray tube was erployed at 4Okv, 35 MA. The strip
charts were recorded at varying scale factors, depending
on the quantity of sample available. A blank of the
olastic holder was also run. The results obtained are
as follows:
Sample 1 (C-1): Sample l (C-l):
The only major element indicated The only major elemont indicated was was iron,
with a very srall trace of chromium: with a very srall trece of chromium:
Sample2 (G-2): Sample2 (6-2):
There appeared to be less than 2 mg. Iron
indicated as the rajor element; no other as the major element; no other elements were
detected.
Samvle #3 (C-3):
Major amounts of iron, major amounts of zinc
and a minor amount of chromium were indicated.
SampleA:
The dark colored material which appeared to
be rubbed or smeared on the surface of the ground
indicated a minor to low major anount of iron and a
rajor anount of sinc. No chromium was indicated.
Conclusions:
It must be concluded from these studies that
the dark matorial rubbed into the surface of the ground
apparently did not core fron eny source couted from

The airoraft of the LOlst and ADC were checked for inadvertant firing of
a rocket with negative results. No reading of the radiation level was
