1, Inclosed with ths bleck and white negative and print is an enlarzed color
print which was developed from the inclosed color negative. This color print shows
the tress which were omitted in cropping the black and white negative, There is no
reason not to assume that the white streak across the sky is a vapor trail,
2 The two dark streaks accompanying the vapor trail ars distorted in a simi-~
lan manner as the vapor trail but are not parallel to it, We do not haves an explana-
tion for the two streaks although one suggestion is that they are possible shadows
of the vapor trail cast upon two lower layers of clouds, We do not knoyv if such a
condition is possible, Ws also checked the film for possible processi efects,
but since we were limited tc just the one frame we were unable to form, opihion,

Dear Sirs,
At approximately 4:15 P.M, Feb 12, 1959, I chanced to glance
out of my window and noted thab a jet plane had just passed
overhead lexving a vapor trail, Next, it was noteé that two
objects nad apparently eut through the layer of strata clouds
eutbting two very conspicuous szaths thus exposing the blue sky
aADOVEe eo
The important thing was that the three lines were parallel so
IT immediately secured csrneras to teke a photograph. Though
v - ~ s >
this only took less tian a minute the forner parallel lines
wapa distorted Aue to the his vwinde
Tae inclosed picotographs snotld give you an idea of the situation.
"his was the second time I have observed this, The first was
last awner when i 3gav a jet with its vapor trail follow an ob-e
seb& that was cubting a gwath throu; tie high clouds in front
of and above tive plane, Mm hoth cases the vniane and objects or
object were treveling from SW to NE.
T an a UPA researcher and vill anpreéiate an exrlanaticn of
the phenconenae
Sincerely,
