Toe information supplicd in this report is very limited. However, the facts
which are included point very strongly toward the object, sighted by the various
witnesaes, being a fircbakl. A fireball is a meteor of wiusual size am brilliance
(brighter than «3 magnitude). Another characteristic of fireballs consistent wita
the report is the possibility of color change during flight, white, blua, Ereon,
_@pange, red, yellow, pink ond purple being the normal color rangee Fireballs are rare |
in oscurence and follow no set pattern. It is unusual for an individual to avo more
than one or two in w lifetime. Tho fact that a sighting is usually oe first experience
_fLor the observer accounts for their startling effect. The limited information in the
report mikes the Barrios case unexplainable. It is believed that were ndditional data
available a suitable explanation could be mide. Spocifie information missing fran
the consolidated report of the CIOVI (Center for Investigating Unidontifiei Flying
_Objects) inoludes such data as direction of motion, elevation end duration of obscre
vation. Inapecting Mr a individual report there seens to be some discrepancy
_in time, the first half of the report indicates 2030 and the last portion 1430.
_Conslusion « The wi*esses in all instances, except possibly the Barrios’ 1430
