) March 58, regarding the report of 4% sizhtings recaived from Major Leonard,

TORAD, Tha call was made becausa Major Leonard felt that the sizgntines may havs

bean Soutnik II. Cant. Miatech came to the Center and analyzed them from ths

standpoint of oredicted Soutnix II tracks and advised Major Leonard by phone that

he did not believe tha sightings to be She Sovist satellite. He requested that
NORAD re-interrozats the reporters of these sightings and forward the additional
information to ATIC as normal UFO reports.

Ths data taken from Major Leonard by me are as follows:

Sighting 1 - “Planing object vicinity of Northway, Alaska; heading 90 degrees;
/10 dezreas above the horizon; time: 2920252 - 2920292

Sizhting 2 - -Flaming object reported by acft 40 miles southeast of Haines,
Alazka;~-30 dezrees above the horizon; time? 2920272.
