Unidentified Flying Object Revort

An unidentified flying object was sizhted by Avenger Blue flizht of
3 FE6L's out of Lockbourne AFB, Ohio. The object was sighted on 12/02307
approximately 40 miles west of Parkersburc, Ohio. It was also sean on
ground radar by the senior director at the 783rd ACYRON, Guthrie, W. Va.

Blue flight airerett 71 and #2 reported visual contact and blue 2
had radar contact. ‘The object was describes as having fed blinking lichts
although shape was urlstermined.

The radar blip appeared to he a fast aircraft and the object was
estimated to be travelins at a speed of 720 knots at 35,000 feet by the
senior ijirector, Ft was in sisht by the pilots for tive minutes and by
the controller for thirty minutes.

it is possible that the flashing red lizhts seen by the pilots may
have been a Bel? preparing for letdown. Lockbourne Air Force Base
Operations statea that several Rel;7?'s were inbound to TVOR at approximately

shortly after 0!,C0Z, 12 Dec 57, and were possibly in the local
area for a period of time before landins.

Sightin: wos by Avenger Blue, flight of 3 F86L's. First
Sighting was hO miles west of Parkersburgh, Ohio, flight heading 090° at
30,099 feet. Radar blip apreared to be a fast aircraft. It was observed
at 5 o'clock position, £0 miles from flight, closing very rapidly. Blip
passed trailing pilot ami moved into }; o'clock position of Blue 2, It
closed to and held 2 niles distance,

Blue 72 and Blue 3 both reported visual contact and Biue 3
had radar contact. light turned north, and object appeared to follow,
Viaual appearance was described as 6 red flashing lishts. Object dis-
appeared about 30 miles north of Farkersburg, according to pilot,

A blip thou ht to be the UFOB was then discovered trackins
northeast, away from area of interceptors at 720 knots, 35,000 feet. It

. proceeded out of rans ica that direction. :

The radar ceburn was similiar to that of a large aircraft,

although both speed, apnearance and behavior were extremely unusual.
