As we were mounting the stairs we sighted this black object traveling
from south to north, The object was black, noisless and falling at a creat spoad,
It was revolving as it fell. It seemed to fall near the top of the mountain.

There were Cow of us on the roof-top. roqg@i—Z——_seeee es 3: 3. )

a bird’ nor a plane. .

Tne next morning we tried to find the object by Looking through a
surveyors instrument, but were unable to locate it. tie also rods up to the
mountains Sunday afternoon with the suveyors instrument, trying to pinpoint the
exact locnticn. We were unable to locate it. Since the mouwitains are so vast,
it seems a plane would be a better means of trying to find it.

PART FOUR: COMMENTS OF PREPARING OFPICER

v]
}
1, The preparing officer was uinble to ¢ arrive at a definite
comelusion as to the cause of the sighting because sighting could be concluded as
only one observation as object was obser ved from one point and ie SOUKCE's
had discussed the sighting in considerable detail which towered the reliability
ef their individusl statenenta. In SCUKCE's statements, they stated they were
ty eerie to a radio broadcast that the rockat of Sputnik I was to pass over at
that time and they immediately went outside to see it. These conclusions are
offered for consideration as possible cuuses of the sighting:
i
a. Others A bird in the proper flight attitude in the
immediate vicinity could account for the sighting. Note: Size and distance
eatimate accuracy of SCURCHE's were only fair, |

b. Aircraft: The Palm Springs airport was in the near
vicinity of the sighting. Aircraft in a strange attitude to observers could
have caused the sighting. Although the airport was contacted for flight
schedules for that day with nersative peaulite, & Local could have been made
without a record at that airport according to alrport ofiicials.
