SUBJECT: Unidentified Flying Object Sighted while
traveling on U.S. Route 6 from Covington,
Virginia to White Sulphur Springs, West
Virginia (2 or 3 miles within the
West Virginia state line) at approximately
2215z to 2220z, 11 November 1957.

1. SYNOPSIS: advised that at approximately 2215Z
to 222oz hours, I1 November l957, while traveling with his wife, and
three (3) children on U.S. Route 60 from Covington, Virginia to White Suiphur

children had sighted an object that locked like a 4" fountain pen held
horizontally at arm's length. The object's nose seemed to change in color

was sighted as they came to a hill approximately two2)to three3miles
within the West Virginia state line. He related that the sun had set and that
the sun was either dead_ahead or on the right of the highway at that point.
The object was to the left of the highway at a 2oo to 25 angle and at an
estimated azimuth of2l0o to 22j related that the method of his
sighting was ground visual with the aid of6 x 3o hinoculars. Time of sight-

Flyiag Object Sighted while traveling on U.S, Route 60 from Covington, 52
Virginia to White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia (2 or 3 miles within
the West Virginia state line) at approximately 22l5z to 222oz, 11
November 1957.
Ceiling: Clear Sky
Visibility: 15 Miles
Cloud Cover: None
advised that there are no weather facilities in the White
area reported cl ear skies with no restrictions to visibility. He stated that,
in his opinion, the weather aud winds would be very similar to that of Charles
ton, West Virginia in White Sulphur Springs at the particular time the object
allegedly was sighted, He further advised that he could not account for the
sighting aud that there had not been any unusual or any known activity that
could explain the sighting.
