Sir:
On the afternoon of Friday, Nov. 8, some loo persons reported
seeing an unidentified flying object in the sky over Columbia and Maury
County. Others, who have had experience n spotting aircraft and some who
looked at it through binoculars, stated definitely that the object was a
high flying jet plane.
But before we were sure what it was, we checked with the U. S.
Air Force filter center nearest here and were told that no jet planes or
other objects had been reported as operating in this area at that
time.
This leaves only one possibility -- that the jet was operating
without its flight having been reported to or checked by the U. S. Air
Force through its filter center for this area.
Force.
Although this is an unpleasant conclusion, it is the only one
we can logically draw in view of the Air Force report that the object was
not reported and was therefore not identified. ,
What would your comtent be on this hypothesis, that is, that
some other nation is flying missiles over the United States
without your knowledge? Can you offer any evidence that this is not so,
in view of the ci so, it would certainly
hel to quell th and apprehensions of many persons in this area
who have read newspaoer about the incident last Saturday and about
the many other nexplained incidents that have been occurring throughout
the United States for the past several yea s.
Many persons here are anxiously waiting for your explanation,
and we will appreciate an immediate reply.
Very sincerely
Anel 1
