differ from ordinary meteors in that they aro very mich
brighter (sometines transforming night into temporary day)
and appear Like a ragneoium flare hurtling through the lower
atmoerhere, and in that they persist to mch lower levels in
the atnogphare. Predoninantly bluish-white in color, these
oftan have oran , yollow and greanish tints interaixed. A
bolide is a 1238 of metoorie material that ignites

visible at hedghts above 50 miles but, unlike an ordinary
matoor, does not burn out in the air but frequently persists
