SUBJECT: Unidentified Flying Object Sighted in
Camden, N. J., on 23 August 1957 by

.SYNOPSIS: interviewed 30 August 1957,
stated that while watchirg-the-sky enroute to work in Camden, New Jersey,
he observed i a glowing bell-shaped object the size of a grapefruit, climb

2. DETAILS:
a. On 30 August 1957, Mr. . age
Camden, N. J., was interviewed at U. S. Naval Supply Der
Robbins Avenue, by Special Agent DOUGLAS T. REYNOLDS.
advised that at 0700 hours to 0710 hours, 23 toC0710 hours, 23 August 1957, 1957,
while proceeding to work while I proceeding to work from his home, he observed a bell-shaped, silver, al bell-shaped, silver,
glowing object, the size of a grapefruit held at arms length.
advised that the object seemed to climb, then dive and disappear.
further advised that while the object was performing the maneuver it was
also going away position and getting smaller in appearance.
stated that, to his knowledge, there was only one object that seemed
to elongate and flatten out as it moved away f'rom him. Further
stated that he saw no tail, trail exhaust or any describable feature,
nor did he hear any sound. advised that the object was at approx-
imately 450 when he first sighted it and at oproximately 25 when it
disappeared. Total duration in view was approximately one (1minute.

identified himself as a civilian carpenter employed by
the U. S. Navy at the U. S. Naval Supply Depot,I Philadelphia, Pa.
further advised that he is a retired U. S. Navy Chief Petty Officer and
has had observer experience as part his past navy duties.
advised that he was watching for the object as he had
seen it almost every day for the past week on his way to work. Note
advised that he first started seeing the objects since he first read two
books on "flying saucers" further advised that he feels that
the objects will land in the futíre and contact him personally but that
he does not know when this contact will take place.
