21 August sourca was aporoeching by autcmobile
traveling from SOFLA to EDIRIE, Turkny. The weather yas clear but the night was very
dark. Source observed I to his left a lighted, moving object in the Bky being traced by
A Bearchlights. Suddenly this lighted, moving objeat eithor disappeared its light
was axtinguished at which time the warchlights went orf. Soon another
light appeared at the sane position which the Srat bad been observed and remained
suspended above the ground Rt what apceared 1000-1500 Lent. After
remining stationary for seconis, tho coject started moving
on a horizontal course. The AA Searchlight batterias were turned upon the moving ob-
jeet as it coutimued on a horiaontal course, traveling at the same altitude for ap
proximately two mimutes and then either disappeared 1ts light was extingudshed.
Source aaid that upon first obuerving this 1 phenctenor he stopped his autamobile and got
out so that ha could obsarve more closely. He said ba chacked his timo very carefully
and made these observations betwaen 2000-2030 hours. During thia period he obserred
this pro repeated aight times. On each occasion the lows:
(1) The UZUNDZHCVO Airtiold would cnale lacked out.
No airoraft could in the
vicdaity.
(2) Suddenly a light would appear over and slightly to the
side of UZUNDZHOVo Airfield, ita altitude appearing to
be 1000-1500 feet. The light upon sppearing W3.3 can
pletely stationary. It did not illunimate the area in
the sease of a flare or 3018 photog

l1ghts in poaitiom around the fleld would be tured on

3-4 searchlighte at each battary location. When the 00-

strong beams of the Searchlights. According to source,
the light of the unidentified object could s still be ob-
served wiile the beams wero directly upom it. The ob
ject appeared to travel at a speed of/ 100-150 nots per
